The United States Department of Commerce (DOC), International Trade Administration (ITA), U.S. and Foreign
Commercial Service (CS), is organizing an executive-led Ports and Maritime Technology Trade Mission to India
from February 20 to 24, 2012 and has invited
The Beckett Group
to be US Delegates.
The mission will include one-on-one business appointments with pre-screened potential buyers, agents,
distributors and joint venture partners; meetings with national and regional government officials; and
networking events. The purpose of the mission is to introduce U.S. firms to India’s rapidly expanding port and
maritime technology market and to assist U.S. companies pursue export opportunities in this sector. The
mission to India is intended to include representatives from leading U.S. companies that provide state-of-the-art
cargo handling equipment, port security and maritime technology equipment.
The Beckett Group helps Illinois Soy Council
The Beckett Group
is currently working on a Head-haul and Back Haul Logistics Study for the Illinois Soy
Council to identify opportunities to move soy products more efficiently by containers.
The Soy industry
currently only moves about 5-8% of their project to global destinations by containerize methods. This study
looks at two major questions:
1) Is there an available source of equipment to load soy for global destinations?
2) Is container transportation cost effective for soy shippers?
Commercial Promotion of Illinois Soy Container Shipping
- This project will prepare a primer on containerized
shipping of soy products. The Primer will: 1) Describe the features and benefits of containerize transportation
along with estimated cost savings; 2) Describe container equipment specifications and will list local providers 3)
Outline how to access rail networks and marine terminals and 4) Highlight strategies for improving
transportation efficiencies and lowering costs through cooperative transportation relationships and facility
developmen
